When it comes to supporting our immune system, people are generally aware that Vitamins C and D are beneficial. You probably know that 70% of your immune system lives in your gut and so you need to take care to balance your microflora (beneficial and harmful bacteria). However, our immune system, just like our overall health, is dependent on many things but would you have guessed that movement was one of them?
Our Lymphatic System is our inner drainage and daily detoxification mechanism. It is a system of vessels, nodes and organs which filter the blood to remove toxins, viruses & bacteria and deliver back nutrients. Our immune cells are produced in our lymph nodes and our lymph flow delivers fatty acids to our blood for transport to our cells, where they support repair and fight infection.
This drainage system is even more amazing when you realise that it has no pump to keep it moving like our heart does for our blood. So, there are some things that we can do in order to maintain it and keep it flowing. I decided to have a conversation with my friend Michelle Hutton from Body Aura Therapies, who includes Massage for Lymphatic Drainage among her list of therapies. This video explains Lymphatic Drainage in more detail and gives 7 easy Tips to keep it moving. We recorded our conversation and are pleased to share it with you. I learned a lot myself, so if you are interested in learning more about maintaining your health, this video is a great place to start.
